There you go, ask the group of Americans who largely do not watch the news and have no real clue what this whole debate is about or the facts surrounding it to bug their parents into going green. Good thinking Al, i guess naively joining your cult isn’t really much different than the companies who are doing this all for profit or the climatologists who ‘fudged’ the numbers.

They will never regain my trust. knowing they have been behind all the countless stupid “green” products being pitched on tv that i have to watch and domination of the news i hear about and basically changing the way humans live for nothing, a big giant lie, i will never trust them again. Climate change is dead as far as im concerned. they can try to reconstruct this frankenstein monster of bullshit science but it will fall on deaf ears.

Scientists have been forced to withdraw a study on projected sea level rise due to global warming after finding mistakes that undermined the findings.

The study, published in 2009 in Nature Geoscience, one of the top journals in its field, confirmed the conclusions of the 2007 report from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). It used data over the last 22,000 years to predict that sea level would rise by between 7cm and 82cm by the end of the century.  Read more...

Bin Laden deplores climate change

Osama bin Laden, the al-Qaeda leader, has condemned the US and other industrial economies, holding them responsible for the phenomenon of climate change.

In an audio tape obtained by Al Jazeera, bin Laden criticised George Bush, the former US president, for rejecting the Kyoto pact and condemned global corporations.

“This is a message to the whole world about those responsible for climate change and its repercussions – whether intentionally or unintentionally – and about the action we must take,” bin Laden said.

“Speaking about climate change is not a matter of intellectual luxury – the phenomenon is an actual fact.”  Read more...

Vatican City (AP) – Pope Benedict XVI denounced the failure of world leaders to agree to a new climate change treaty in Copenhagen last month, saying Monday that world peace depends on safeguarding God’s creation.

He issued the admonition in a speech to ambassadors accredited to the Vatican, an annual appointment during which the pontiff reflects on issues the Vatican wants to highlight to the diplomatic corps.  Read more...

Global warming skeptics are blasting Build-A-Bear Workshop for being anything but soft and cuddly, accusing the well-known toy company of trying to indoctrinate young children with a series of videos warning of the effects of climate change.

The three-part video series, “Under the North Star: An Uplifting Christmas Experience,” features a cartoon polar bear who warns Santa Claus that global warming is a “serious situation,” one that could wreak havoc on the environment and potentially cause the North Pole to vanish by Christmas.

Critics say the Overland, Mo.-based company advocated a political stance to children, prompting the removal of the videos and a statement from Build-A-Bear founder and CEO Maxine Clark, who insisted the video series was intended to “inspire” children to make a difference as individuals.  Read more...

COPENHAGEN — Sen. Jim Inhofe flew across the Atlantic and — on little sleep — braved the snow, the cold and the dark to deliver his skeptical message at the international climate conference.

What he found when he got here: a few aides and a single reporter.

“I think he’s going to be a little disappointed,” one of his aides remarked.

Inhofe was at least impatient.

The ranking Republican on the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee hoped to spread two messages in Copenhagen: Global warming is a hoax, and there’s no way the Senate is going to pass a cap-and-trade bill.  Read more...

COPENHAGEN — An administration official said late Friday that President Obama has reached a “meaningful agreement” with China, India and South Africa to curb greenhouse gas emissions following a marathon day of talks in Copenhagen.

The official said Obama had delayed his scheduled departure from Copenhagen and was in the final stages of overseeing the creation of a non-binding agreement to cut global greenhouse gases. The deal will prevent global temperature increases of no more than two degrees centigrade by 2020, the official said.  Read more...

Dec. 17 (Bloomberg) — World leaders flying into Copenhagen today to discuss a solution to global warming will first face freezing weather as a blizzard dumped 10 centimeters (4 inches) of snow on the Danish capital overnight.

“Temperatures will stay low at least the next three days,” Henning Gisseloe, an official at Denmark’s Meteorological Institute, said today by telephone, forecasting more snow in coming days. “There’s a good chance of a white Christmas.”

Delegates from 193 countries have been in Copenhagen since Dec. 7 to discuss how to fund global greenhouse gas emission cuts. U.S. President Barack Obama will arrive before the summit is scheduled to end tomorrow.  Read more...

California is swimming in debt (or drowning) and now he supports climate change. even going to Copenhagen to support cap and trade. He has brought too much of Europe with him and i think unfortunately that is an unresolvable problem.

I hope after this conference ends with no deal they will post pictures of each of the protesters with tears streaming down their cheeks. then i will ask where is your God now? why hath Al Gore forsaken thee?

The United Nations climate summit hit major turbulence on Monday when developing nations walked out of key negotiations and China accused the West of trickery, as the spectre of failure loomed heavily over Copenhagen.

With world leaders debating how to address climate change in Copenhagen and the U.S. Senate poised to take up a climate bill in the coming months, a new CBS News/New York Times poll finds that just 37 percent of Americans believe the issue should be a priority for government leaders.

That’s a significant drop from April of 2007, when 52 percent of those surveyed said the issue should be a high priority.

A majority of Americans (70 percent) do consider global warming to be a “serious problem.” But nearly two in three either see it as “not serious” (23 percent overall) or a serious problem but not a high priority (33 percent).  Read more...
