Dem House Whip Clyburn Says House Is Still Short On Healthcare Votes

clyburn Dem House Whip Clyburn Says House Is Still Short On Healthcare Votes

Maybe because some of the house democrats are smart enough to know that if they vote for this unpopular monstrosity they will get their asses ‘whipped’ in the 2010 elections. its a shame that only some of them understand this concept, but then on the other hand its good news. i am looking forward to seeing them get swept at the polls

Fox News-House Democratic leaders still do not have enough votes to pass health care reform, the chamber’s top vote counter said Sunday, even though the administration is aiming to have the bill passed this week.

The reality check came from Rep. James Clyburn, the House Democratic whip.

weather chart Weather Data Being Used As Reason For Trillion + Dollar Cap And Trade Bill Collected From 120 Year Old Process

Weather and data collecting in general has come a long in 120 years. and im sure as hell glad they do not fight cancer the same way they did 120 years ago. odd they would use this same system. known to be filled with errors as the data is collected by a network of volunteers.

Fox News

Crucial data on the American climate, part of the basis for proposed trillion-dollar global warming legislation, is churned out by a 120-year-old weather system that has remained mostly unchanged since Benjamin Harrison was in the White House.

The network measures surface temperature by tallying paper reports sent in by snail mail from volunteers whose data, according to critics, often resembles a hodgepodge of guesswork, mathematical interpolation and simple human error.

harold ford jr Former Rep. Harold Ford Jr. Says Dems Are Scared Heading In To Fall Elections..Will Not Run For New York Seat

Harold Ford is one of the few dems i actually respect. im not even talking about his voting record, although i do not remember anything blasphemous he has ever said. but he is always a stand up guy. he goes on fox and tells the truth. but he will not run because the few progressives have ruined it for everyone now. we need to get back to a place where democrats can run and the people not be afraid they will just be like the ones we have now and are going to destroy the country. normal democrats with different views that can work together with the other side and do what’s right for this country. i am a conservative, and this current crop of democrats have screwed the system so bad that i do not trust them. but i know there are some good ones out there.

Even New CNN Poll Shows Only 25% Support Current Dem Healthcare Bill

Washington (CNN) – Although the overall health care reform bills passed by the House of Representatives and the Senate are unpopular, many of the provisions in the existing bills are extremely popular, even among Republicans, according to a new national poll.

A CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey released Wednesday also indicates that only a quarter of the public want Congress to stop all work on health care, with nearly three quarters saying lawmakers should pass some kind of reform.

Twenty-five percent of people questioned in the poll say Congress should pass legislation similar to the bills passed by both chambers, with 48 percent saying lawmakers should work on an entirely new bill and a quarter saying Congress should stop all work on health care reform.

Senate Passes $20 Billion Dollar Jobs Bill

obama makes it rain1 300x200 Senate Passes $20 Billion Dollar Jobs Bill

WASHINGTON — The Senate has passed a bill aimed at boosting job growth by giving tax breaks to businesses that hire the unemployed.

The jobs legislation would also extend highway and mass transit programs through the end of the year and pump $20 billion into them in time for the construction season. Economists say the tax breaks could create perhaps 250,000 jobs.

It’s the first of several job-creation measures promised by Democrats, who also want to give cash-strapped states further help with their budgets and give subsidies to people who make their homes more energy efficient.

The measure passed by a bipartisan 70-28 and now goes back to the House, which passed a far more ambitious version in December.

Obama Asks Former Campaign Manager David Plouffe to Help with Midterm Elections

by Bruce Drake @ Politics Daily

President Obama is bringing back some of the team that helped him win the 2008 election — including campaign manager David Plouffe — to try and head off the kind of setbacks in this year’s midterm election that the Democrats suffered this week in the Massachusetts senate race and last year’s gubernatorial contests in New Jersey and Virginia.

Plouffe will work out of the Democratic National Committee where he will monitor and strategize the races this year for House, Senate and governors’ seats, according to the New York Times.

Dems’ Massachusetts loss clouds Pelosi’s future

Washington – — If the late Edward Kennedy’s Massachusetts Senate seat isn’t safe for Democrats, is Nancy Pelosi’s speakership of the House safe?

The answer is yes, unless there’s a Republican landslide in November. Forty Democratic House members would have to lose their seats to topple the San Francisco Democrat from the third-highest elected job in the country, just two steps down from the presidency.

Even before a stunning Republican victory in Tuesday’s special election in Massachusetts rocked Democrats coast to coast a day before the anniversary of President Obama’s inauguration a year ago, political handicappers were forecasting potential House losses at just under 30 seats.

President Obama takes the heat President Bush did not

By JOSH GERSTEIN – Politico

Eight years ago, a terrorist bomber’s attempt to blow up a transatlantic airliner was thwarted by a group of passengers, an incident that revealed some gaping holes in airline security just a few months after the attacks of Sept. 11. But it was six days before President George W. Bush, then on vacation, made any public remarks about the so-called “shoe bomber,” Richard Reid, and there were virtually no complaints from the press or any opposition Democrats that his response was sluggish or inadequate.

Max Baucus’s speech under conservative fire

By PATRICK GAVIN

A speech by Sen. Max Baucus (D-Mont.) on health care has been generating buzz on the Internet, as the Drudge Report and others are suggesting that Baucus was slurring his speech and possibly “intoxicated” during his remarks.

“DRUNK WITH POWER? TOP DEM SLURS ON SENATE FLOOR …” reads the Drudge Report headline.

Newsbusters.org writes: “How can one explain this incredibly bizarre performance by Max Baucus on the Senate floor? Was Baucus so intoxicated by the sound of his own voice that he went off the deep end? Or perhaps he was so drunk with power over shaping the Senate health care bill that it explains his strange rant.”

Voters also oppose 72 – 23 percent using any public money in the health care overhaul to pay for abortions, the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe-ack) University poll finds.

American voters also disapprove 51 – 44 percent of President Obama’s handling of the economy and disapprove 56 – 37 percent of the way he is creating jobs. But voters favor 52 – 42 percent his plan to use $200 billion left over from the bank bailout for a new stimulus package to create jobs rather than to reduce the budget deficit.

Amnesty May Be Dead Now Too

amnesty Amnesty May Be Dead Now Too

The line of people waiting to get into the US legally is miles long. the waiting period is years. so why are we even considering allowing a bunch of law breaking squatters to steal their place in line? we should kick them all out and let them get to the back. then when their time comes and they are able to complete all necessary steps to be allowed in then let it be done. no amnesty!

Politico

Immigration reform advocates are launching a concerted drive this week to make sure their issue doesn’t get the election-year sidestep from Congress and a White House already wrestling with complex and far-reaching legislation on health care, climate change and regulating Wall Street.

WOW! CBO Reports Senate Health Care Bill Would Force Some Middle Class Families To Pay $15,200 Yearly Insurance Fee

reid smug

(CNSNews.com) – Forget the public option. Even without it, the health care bill presented in the Senate by Majority Leader Harry Reid (D.-Nev.) would make some middle-class American families pay what amounts to a $15,200 annual federally-mandated insurance fee, according to facts revealed in analyses published by the Congressional Budget Office.

The fee would result from the facts that the bill requires individuals—but not employers—to purchase health insurance plans and that families that earn up to 400 percent of the federal poverty level would be given government subsidies to purchase insurance in government-regulated insurance exchanges while families earning more than 400 percent of the federal poverty level would be denied government subsidies.
