The murderer is scheduled to become the nation’s first convict to be put to death with a single dose of a drug.

COLUMBUS — The last time Kenneth Biros made the trip to the Death House, he brought a gold cross necklace, a portable compact disc player with some CDs, a rosary and 20 stamped envelopes.

He ate cheese pizza, a salad with Italian dressing, Pepsi, Doritos with French onion dip, blueberry ice cream and cherry pie.

PERUGIA, Italy — An Italian jury found American college student Amanda Knox guand guilty of murdering her British roommate sentenced her to 26 years.

A verdict came just after midnight (6 p.m. EST) in the yearlong trial, which drew intense media attention and largely focused on the personality of the 22-year-old student from Seattle and her life as an exchange student in Italy.

Knox and Raffaele Sollecito, 25, were charged with murder and sexual assault in the 2007 slaying of Meredith Kercher. All three were studying in Perugia in Italy’s central Umbria region at the time.

Kercher’s body was found in a pool of blood with her throat slit on Nov. 2, 2007, in the bedroom of the house she shared with Knox. Prosecutors contended the 21-year-old Leeds University student was murdered the previous night.

CLEVELAND — A registered sex offender who police say was living with 10 dead bodies and a skull has been indicted on 11 counts of aggravated murder, a prosecutor said Tuesday.

Anthony Sowell, 50, previously had been charged with five murders. Now, he is indicted on a total of 11 murder counts and dozens of others, including kidnapping, abuse of a corpse, attempted murder, assault and rape charges.

Prosecutor Bill Mason expects to seek the death penalty.

Sowell’s home was searched after a woman said Sowell had attacked her there on Sept. 22. He has been charged with rape, kidnapping, felonious assault and attempted murder in that attack and has pleaded not guilty.  Read more...

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — Blessed with a Friday off school, 15-year-old Alyssa Bustamante dug two holes in the ground to be used as a grave, authorities said. For the next week, she attended classes, all the while plotting the right time for a murder, they said.

That time arrived the evening of Oct. 21, when Bustamante strangled 9-year-old neighbor Elizabeth Olten without provocation, cut the girl’s throat and stabbed her, prosecutors said. Why?

“Ultimately, she stated she wanted to know what it felt like,” Missouri State Highway Patrol Sgt. David Rice testified Wednesday during a court hearing over the slaying.  Read more...

DEVELOPING: Army psychiatrist Major Nidal Hasan will be charged with 13 counts of premeditated murder in last week’s Fort Hood mass shootings, Fox News confirmed Thursday.

Hasan, 39, is suspected of killing 13 of his comrades Nov. 5 when he opened fire at a soldier processing center at the military base in Killeen, Texas.

The American-born military psychiatrist survived the rampage and is being guarded at a hospital in San Antonio. He has been talking to investigators.

Hasan is accused of firing about 100 rounds at unsuspecting fellow soldiers filling out deployment paperwork before civilian police officers shot him and stopped the attack.

All he did was draw attention to his weight and is going to prison lol

HACKENSACK, N.J. — A New Jersey jury has rejected a Florida man’s claims that he was too fat to kill and has convicted him of murdering his former son-in-law.

Edward Ates said he didn’t have the energy to accurately shoot his former son-in-law and escape to Louisiana.

The 62-year-old was 285 pounds when Paul Duncsak was killed in 2006.

Prosecutors said Ates drove from Florida to Duncsak’s home in Ramsey, New Jersey, climbed a staircase and shot the 40-year-old.

The victim and Ates’ daughter were involved in a bitter custody dispute after their divorce.  Read more...

CLEVELAND – A Cleveland woman said Thursday that she was choked and threatened this year by the man now charged with murder after the remains of several people were found on his property — and that she is racked with guilt for not speaking up earlier.

Tanja Doss told The Associated Press that if she had quickly gone to authorities, her best friend, Nancy Cobbs, might not be missing. She believes Cobbs might be among the 11 victims whose remains were found at Sowell’s home.

Police have recovered 10 bodies and a skull from the home and yard of 50-year-old Anthony Sowell, a registered sex offender who moved back to his family’s house in 2005 after serving 15 years in prison for attempted rape. While NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell was calling conservative talk radio host Rush Limbaugh too “divisive” to own a professional football team, rapper Snoop Dogg was appearing in television ads for ESPN’s “Sunday NFL Countdown.”

I guess Goodell and other higher-ups within the league weren’t concerned with having a man possessing multiple felony charges against him including murder do commercials for the highly-watched Sunday pre-game show on the nation’s leading sports cable network.  Read more...

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) – A Florida man accused of killing his son-in-law in New Jersey is arguing that he was unable to commit the crime because he was too fat.
When Edward Ates takes the stand in his defense Wednesday, he’s expected to tell jurors he wouldn’t have had the energy needed to climb and descend the staircase where prosecutors say the killer was perched when he shot Paul Duncsak, a 40-year-old pharmaceutical executive, in 2006.

An attorney for Ates claims that in 2006, the 62-year-old who stood 5 feet 8 and tipped the scales at 285 pounds was in such bad physical shape that couldn’t have pulled off the shooting or the fast getaway the killer made.  Read more...

Lincolnshire, England (LifeNews.com) — A British woman is making international headlines for giving birth to a baby boy and dumping his body at a local recycling plant. Police officials are currently trying to identify the baby’s mother, who wrapped her newborn son in a black bin liner on a conveyor belt at the Greenstar Recycling Plant.

A worker at the plant discovered the body of the infant, who was no more than two or three days old at the time his mother discarded him.  Read more...

In his floor speech the other day, Rep. Alan Grayson (D-Fla.) more or less suggested that failing to enact health care reform was the moral equivalent of manslaughter or criminally negligent homicide — saying the GOP wanted sick people to “die quickly.”

In a recent e-mail obtained by POLITICO, one of Grayson’s legislative assistants took that equivalence one step further — likening the defeat of reforms to “murdering the uninsured.”

An FBI forensics lab identified a blood stain outline of a child in the fetal position in the trunk liner of accused child killer Casey Anthony’s car, according to newly released documents.

The information came in an e-mail from FBI Intelligence Analyst Karen B. Cowan to another agency employee written on Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2008.

Anthony, 23, of Orlando, is charged with murdering her 2-year-old daughter Caylee, hiding the child’s remains and lying to investigators about a baby sitter kidnapping her.

“If you look closely at this photo, there appears to be the outline or silhouette of a child in the fetal position,” Cowan wrote.  Read more...

Police in Connecticut arrested a Yale University lab technician Thursday in the suffocation death of a graduate student whose body was found stuffed in a research-building wall on what was to be her wedding day.

Raymond Clark III, age 24, of Middletown, Conn., was arraigned in court Thursday after being charged with the murder of Annie Le. The accused killer kept his head bowed during the three minute court appearance and didn’t enter a plea, saying, “Yes, your honor,” when asked whether he understood his rights. The judge set bail at $3 million.

The arrest warrant has been sealed and there are no other suspects, New Haven Police Chief James Lewis said.  Read more...
