Carly Fiorina Plays The Gender Card Saying She’s A Better Candidate Than DeVore Because She’s A Woman
Former Hewlitt-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina (R) on Monday said that she is the best candidate to defeat Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) because she is a woman.
Asked why she is a better candidate than her Republican primary opponent Assemblyman Chuck DeVore (R-Calif.), Fiorina said that a woman stands a better chance of defeating Boxer.
“With all due respect and deep affection for white men, I am married to one,” Fiorina said at a breakfast at Americans for Tax Reform. “But [Barbara Boxer] knows how to beat them in California, she has done it over and over and over again.”
Of DeVore, the former economic adviser to Sen. John McCain’s (R-Ariz.) presidential campaign said “he’s the opponent Barbara Boxer hopes she faces.”
Senator Robert Byrd Becomes Longest Serving Member Of Congress
Term Limits anyone?
WASHINGTON – West Virginia Sen. Robert C. Byrd became the longest-serving lawmaker in congressional history Wednesday, a milestone to be marked with a morning of Senate tributes and a special resolution.
“I look forward to serving you for the next 56 years and 320 days,” Byrd said in a statement marking the occasion. His only regret, Byrd said, was that his late wife, Erma, was not there with him.
“I know that she is looking down from the heavens smiling at me and saying congratulations, my dear Robert — but don’t let it go to your head,” Byrd said.
It was unclear whether Byrd would be able to attend Wednesday’s session.
Another RINO Open To Voting For ObamaCare. Susan Collins (R-Maine) Big Surprise
WASHINGTON (AP) - Another Republican senator says she’s open to voting for a sweeping health care overhaul this year.
Maine Sen. Susan Collins said Wednesday the status quo is unaccaptable and she shares the goal of passing responsible health care legislation to expand coverage and curb costs. But Collins also said she has serious concerns about the version that cleared the Finance Committee Tuesday with the support of her Maine colleague, Olympia Snowe. Collins said she worries the coverage won’t be affordable for many families and small businesses, and said proposed Medicare cuts are too deep.
So far, Snowe is the only Republican in Congress to vote for a bill that would deliver on President Barack Obama’s top domestic priority.
Harry Reid Is Going To Lose His Senate Seat..Hallelujah!
Nevadans say they’re ready to replace longtime Democratic incumbent Sen. Harry Reid with an untested Republican.
Which Republican? Undecided.
But of their top two picks — former GOP party official Sue Lowden and real estate developer Danny Tarkanian — either one would unseat Reid if the election were held today, according to a poll commissioned by the Review-Journal.
Lowden and Tarkanian are in a statistical tie atop a list of nine primary candidates, according to the survey of Nevada registered voters.
The poll by Washington, D.C.-based Mason-Dixon Polling & Research Inc. shows 23 percent of Republicans favored Lowden to 21 percent for Tarkanian with 44 percent undecided.
